Shoes are where the heart is....

Seeing shoes from back in the day for me is like smelling a scent that takes you back to a special place...(i.e smelling your girls perfume when she's nowhere in sight or going to moms house & she's throwin down makin that bombass meal she used to make for you when you lived @ home)

Anyway, these joints right here remind me of strolling down The Alley at Crossroads in 97', all of the homies had these in various colorways...

S/O out to the XRoads fam... Much Love Always!

El Lay Journey...

So I've been on my daily journey and haven't posted in awhile, but I would like to show you my heart & mind have been in the right place....

The Weekend... Thursday

Yesterday The Weeknd dropped their second album of the summer, Thursday. Abel Tesfaye better know as The Weeknd has released some of the illest music I've heard in awhile. Both albums are something special... Show love.

Cherish Each Other.....

I feel that as a global society we have been surrounded by chaos for what seems like forever; war, rioting, bombings all which result in senseless killings. It seems as if all parties involved have something to say- but those they want to listen aren't. I think a lot of times we fail to acknowledge the overall mood(vibe) of society. It's no secret people as a whole are stressed out, and truthfully they have every right to be. Too many parents burying their children, homeless families, famine, the list goes on & on. I hold all of this dear to my heart, it is my belief that if we come together through love and positive unity we can make our time here more pleasant. Embrace all of those around you and encourage your loved ones to do the same. The anger is senseless and it's flat out tiring- to love is to cherish, cherish every moment in a positive light.

I wanted to include some inspiring words sung by the beautiful Marvin Gaye: "What's Going On..."

Mother, mother
There's too many of you crying
Brother, brother, brother
There's far too many of you dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today - Ya

Father, father
We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today

Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me, so you can see
Oh, what's going on
What's going on
Ya, what's going on
Ah, what's going on

In the mean time
Right on, baby
Right on
Right on

Father, father, everybody thinks we're wrong
Oh, but who are they to judge us
Simply because our hair is long
Oh, you know we've got to find a way
To bring some understanding here today
Oh

Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me
So you can see
What's going on
Ya, what's going on
Tell me what's going on
I'll tell you what's going on - Uh
Right on baby
Right on baby

Intrigue that surrounds The Weeknd....

With the amount of talent one must exceed & the rigorous regimen it takes to develop a die hard fan base, it seems like a pretty discouraging battle for a musician to get their work to be heard & LOVED by your city, let alone the masses. The Weeknd seems to have mastered all of which that entails. The Weeknd, a Canadian R&B artist and his crew XO run the streets of Toronto with constant mystery surrounding them- doting camouflage on the regular- subtly letting everyone know they are an army of their own... The intrigue that surrounds them is superhero-esque most definitely...

Releasing all of his music independently, no support from a major label, The Weeknd & XO as a whole seemed to roll through the city with that drive- the drive to be the BEST record deal or not. It has become abundantly clear the music they make is mind blowing, mixing slow R&B ballads over slight Dubstep tempos. The vibe is unlike anything I've ever felt from an album.

Although their album was released over a month ago, I HAVE to share this classic with you guys. I hope you enjoy!!

Blazing Red

The Original Nike Blazer dropped in 1972 & was donned by NBA legend George "The Iceman" Garvin.. This timeless classic is definitely one of my personal favorites & this red colorway no doubt holds a special place in my heart- not to mention a future in my closet.

Carmageddon lead me to the Eat Real Festival....

This past weekend was Carmageddon: the 2-day closure of a 10-mile stretch of our nation's busiest freeway, the 405. While the hype behind Carmageddon was just that... hype! I decided to stay close to home so I didn't become a victim of  the unthinkable traffic, that never was...

Instead, I walked around the corner from my house with two of my closest buddies and my love to the famous Helms Bakery District where The Eat Real Festival was taking place.

Instant heaven... Food Trucks galore, Live Music, Beer in Mason Jars, great food demonstrations and best of all FREE bike valet by the Culver City Bike Coalition; for all the Angelinos who chose to boycott their cars in the name of Carmageddon.

This was the perfect event to eat, drink, and be merry... let's just say we did just that!

Cheers to all that took part in ensuring the Eat Real Festival was a success!!!

Much Love

The Little Things in Life-Sneakers

As far back as I can remember Sneakers have held a special place in my heart... To me there is nothing like opening that shoe box for the first time; the smell & the sparkle of cleanliness bring a smile to my face each and every time I take part in this joyous activity. With that being said I would like to share a very special sneaker that will be blessing our little hearts very soon.... The Space Jam Dunks!! I have included a pic of these bad boys below. Don't worry you only have a 10 day countdown.... starting now!

China 2011

These are a few shots from my trip to China earlier this year... I would like to thank the USA Basketball Academy for allowing me to be part the 1st US women's team to go on a  3-City 9-Game China basketball tour. Our opponents consisted of China, Australia, and the Czech Republic. Since we spent the majority of our time either playing or relaxing at the hotel some of these pics were taken from our bus so I apologize if they aren't very clear.
I hope you enjoy!
